//NLP - Achievable Outcomes
The Keys to Achievable Outcomes
Achievable Outcomes is a simple exercise in NLP that helps people determine what it is they really want and make sure that their goal is realistic and will fit in with their life. It also often makes people realise that what they've been focusing on is not the real goal, but a variation on a theme and gives them more specific details of what they are aiming for. It is a very easy, step by step process to follow by asking the questions below and using the comments and guidelines listed underneath each question:
The NLP Keys to Achievable Outcomes Process
Step 1:
"What is it you want?"
The answer to this question needs to be stated in a positive way and as specifically as possible.
Step 2:
"What is happening now?"
This question is asking about the current situation. How do you feel about what is happening now? What do you think and say about it?
Step 3:
"What will you see, hear and feel when you have it?"
Imagine you have it now, make it compelling and desirable, then imagine having it in the future and what will be going on.
Step 4:
"How will you know when you have what you want?"
What evidence will you have to tell you that you have been successful? What will you see, hear, feel and know when you have it?
Step 5:
"What will having this outcome do for you?"
When you achieve your outcome what will having it allow you to do and/or have?
Step 6:
"Can you start and maintain this yourself?"
Is this outcome self initiated and can it be self maintained?
Step 7:
"In what context do you want this?"
Where, when, how and with whom does this achievable outcome apply?
Step 8:
"What do you need to do this?"
What resources are needed to get your outcome? Are the resources internal or external, in other words do you have what you need or do you need resources from elsewhere? What needs to be done to get the resources needed?
Step 9:
"Is this ecological to you?"
What will you gain and lose when you have your outcome?
Is it ecological in all the other areas of your life? In other words will it fit in easily?
Is it ecological to others? What impact will this have on other people in your life?
