//NLP Introduction
If you are looking for a quick summary introduction of what neuro linguistic programming (also know as nlp) is then here it is:
What is nlp?
A long name to describe something simple!
Definitions of NLP
There are many definitions to describe NLP. Here are a few:
* NLP is an attitude and a methodology that leaves behind a trail of techniques.
* NLP is the study of subjective experience.
* NLP is the study of excellence.
NLP looks at the way we programme our mind through language and other non verbal communication. Through this programming we create our behaviours and achieve our outcomes.
Another way of thinking about it
Do you get what you want, when you want it and in the way that you want it?
NLP helps you understand what you are doing and why you do it. Then you get to ask these questions:
* Is what I’m doing working for me?
* What do I want to change?
* What do I want to keep?
* How do I want to feel about what I do?
* Am I being who I am?
What does Neuro Linguistic Programming mean?
Neuro:
Is our nervous system through which our experiences are processed through our five senses:
* Visual - seeing
* Auditory - hearing
* Kinaesthetic - feeling
* Olfactory - smelling
* Gustatory - tasting
Linguistic:
The use of language and other non verbal communication systems which we use to code our neural representations and give them meaning. These include:
* Pictures
* Sounds
* Feelings
* Tastes
* Smells
* Words (our own self talk)
Programming:
The internal systems we use to organise our thoughts and feelings to achieve our desired outcomes. The repeatable patterns of our thoughts and behaviours that create our results.
